My name is David Porter, and this is my second class with Professor Kizzier. I'm twenty seven, I work for Apple, Inc., and I'm an audio / recording engineer and computer technician / IT professional. Pretty boring, right? Anyway, here are the facts:
1) The last thing I wrote was a piece of music, actually- that's pretty great, since I haven't written music much for a few years. So yeah.
2) The last book I read was Richard Price's "Lush Life"-- it's a crime story, and Price was one of the principle writers of HBO's 'The Wire', one of my all time favorite shows, so I had to get it. It was pretty good.
3) The last event I attended on campus was the last day of fall semester, I suppose. I had a math test. Walking in, I felt like I'd swallowed gravel, but the test was easier than I thought, so I left feeling considerably better.
4) I drive about 30 miles each way to and from work, so I spend a good deal of time in my car-- it's probably where I listen to music the most these days.
5) My goal in this class is to engage in thoughtful discussion and debate, and to expand my point of view such that I'm a wiser person at the end of the semester.
