know isabelle

I am Isabelle Sevilla. People call me different names: a) Bing, at home and my really close friends b) Isase, from my high school c) Issa, from my previous college d) Izzy, at work and most of the people here in the U.S.

I was born and grew up in the Philippines (a full-blood Filipino!) and I just moved here to the United States last December 2007.

Last year, 2008, was a very different year for me. It was a MAJOR turning point in my life. One thing, I moved to a different country which is on the other side of the globe. Another, I turned 18 so I had to learn how to drive (which is not common for Filipino women), I got my first job, and I had to live away from my sisters and my dad (who just passed away last December 30). Life in the U.S. is WAY different from life in the Philippines. Period. There were struggles but most of these experiences I had last year definitely made me more independent, mature, and responsible. Basically though, I know myself as a happy person and a positive thinker who has lots of crazy ideas and goals in life which I know I can accomplish.

***
1. The last thing I wrote is a blog entry (http://isase87.multiply.com). It is about me being grateful about my gay friend from work, about church activities, etc.
2. The last book I read from cover to cover (last week) was The Secret.
3. The last event I attended at CCBC, if I'm not mistaken, is the last (my first) Honor's Society meeting last Dec. 3.
4. I spend only 30 to 45 minutes in my car a day.
5. One of my goals in Eng102 is to be able to express myself more through words and through writing.
